Spatial Gesture In Context

For my spatial gesture i thought it would be really interesting to incorporate it with the movement of the bed. I decided a printed version of this on the bottom of the bed would look really good. I think i need to experiment with using another image on the enclosure so when the bed folds down it shows a white section with less paint. This would show my aesthetic gesture well as the paint is added to create different layers.

Walldrobe

I wanted to place a tall set of drawers next to the side of the bed. So that when the bed is folded up, the drawers are aligned against the wall. Much like a skyscraper, i found it interesting how a tall, narrow set of drawers left a huge amount of space compared to a short, wide seat of drawers. Sticking with the idea of having as much free space as i could, i decided to design a light that could be built in to the wardrobe which was small and aligned with the drawers, I also placed another one of these lights above the window so it will be above the head of the bed.

Fold out Bed - SketchUp

I put together a fold up be which will go against the wall in my bedroom, i wanted to keep it simple while still looking nice in the room. the bed is attached to an enclosure by a metal extendable arm on each side of the bed. the bed stands are two long wooden beams.

A bit of humorous inspiration, just like in the movie Stepbrothers, I wanted to create more space for activities and movement.

Bed Study

After talking to Kate she suggested that as i have a small room, it may be a good idea to have a more spacious bed, one that can be folded away or smaller. I have found a few beds that i could gain inspiration and ideas from...

Spatial Gesture Concepts

For my Spatial Gesture Concepts i wanted to create a flat image from my gestural response to my client which was a song. I wanted to show through a range of media how a complex song is made up of many small components, but when these components come together they can create a masterpiece and flow with each eachother. I have displayed three different types of media in my exploration; string laying down on duraseal, gauge paint on white paper, and chalk on white paper.

1: String on duraseal
I like how the string can easily be moved and how some string can overlay other pieces.

2: Guage paint on white paper
This exploration was my personal favourite, i rally like how each colour of paint complemented the other colours and how even when i had the red on its own it still looked really nice and showed a straightforward sequence.

3: Chalk on paper
